THE Red Rose Cafe which has been an icon in Junction Street Nowra for at least 75 years has closed its doors.

It was the last of the three old style milk bar/cafes in Nowra’s main street.

Formerly located on the north side of Junction Street, the well-known coffee shop has been located adjacent to Sportscene for the past 40 years.

Owner of the building Bob Mann said the demise of the business was just an indication of change.

“When the Red Rose was located on the other side of the road, where Bashas is today, there was a cinema on the corner where the Chem Mart shop is now,” Mr Mann said.

“The Red Rose was the place to go at interval and after the pictures.
